R.E.M – A neurological term, abbreviation of Rapid Eye Movement, a phenomenon that affects the eyes of the sleeper when entering the sleep phase called "paradoxical".
My interest in this phenomenon is less the reference to the dream and the dreamer, than the absolute state of availability in which he is immersed. I am in search of a state that drives photographed things into doubt, suspicion or fear. Thought adheres, develops mental architectures, acts alone, by and for itself. In my turn, inspired by Robert Adams, I wish to endorse the maxim of the poet William Carlos Williams: « No ideas except in things ».
